I have been excited, yet dreading the events for the next month. IT will be SOOOOOOOOOOOOO busy, that I will be excited to start August (do I dare say that, I hate to rush summer along). Our wards Youth Conference started on Thursday. We started Thursday out with a trip to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple Open House followed by Baptisms at the Salt Lake Temple. It made for a long day, but one that turned out to be a very spiritual experience for everyone that attended. I hope the kids realize how wonderful it is to live in Utah, and to be able to travel to two temples in one day. I absolutly loved it, and hope that you all find the time to attend the open house while it is going on. The Oquirrh Temple is very beautiful, and had a very home like feeling. I don't know if I'm partial to feeling that way, because of growing up on the west side of the Salt Lake valley (just not that far south), and being able to see the Oquirrh Mountains from our yard.
Friday was the easiest of the three day youth conference. We had a barbque at the church where we ate burgers and hot dogs. Followed by a fireside on the importance of temples. It was a very nice program and video. I love being able to attend the temple, I love the spirit that I feel while there, and I LOVE doing work for those who never had the opportunity to hear about the Gospel while in this life. I have truly been blessed many times over, for the work I have done in the temple.
Saturday we played an Amazing race game. It was SOOOOOOOOO much fun, and the kids all got into it. They really were the best, and so competitive (their parents should all be so proud of that). The game consisted of several different tasks like shooting hoops, washing the leaders car, doing a mile around the track, and a temple match game. But the ultimate task was to drink a wild concoction of the teams favorite foods and drink. The teams all had to choose from a list of foods from Mac and Cheese, Doritios, Pizza, Candy Bars, Sprite, Milk, OJ, etc.. They had to choose three foods from this list and a drink to mix it up. The stuff was blended together, and each team member had to chug the drink, before the recieving their final clue. Everyones looks were priceless, while chugging. It was a great laugh and made for some great pictures.
I hope that everyone had a great time playing the game. I had a ton of fun watching you guys go for the goal. Thank you Krysten for helping with this game and preparing it. You are amazing and have such a wonderful talent, pulling things like this together. Thanks again to Jill for letting us use your house as a pitstop. Thanks for blending the drinks together, though they were awful, it sure was fun to see the kids surprised looks, when you handed them their blended drinks. Thanks again. I will post pictures soon, my camera battery is being charged.
